larissa kapp was born in some idyllic concrete jungle city called asbest in russia, where she spent the first ten years of her life in a minimal, urbanely grey surrounding. there were not too many things, to keep her away from nerdish piano playing, until her family went to germany. there, after years of piano, singing and dance lessons (ballet, jazz, modern), she started her studies on a music high school, which, to be honest, wasnt exactly, what she wanted to learn.

the long lost consists of husband & wife alfred (a.k.a. electronic daedelus) and laura darlington. in contrast to the avant electronics and hip hop aesthetics of alfreds music as daedelus, the long lost is a union of two songwriters & producers with a penchant for sad sounds and delicate, electro acoustic melodies. psychedelic lullabies for lovers and the lovelorn. as well as sa ra, laura has also sung for flying lotus. a fascinating and utterly individual project, the long lost take the subject of love away from the cliches and hackneyed wailing of the mainstream and reconnect it to those strange and uncontrollable emotions we re all so in thrall...

another serious result from our warehouse rummaging! si begg is a man of many musical personalities, his list of aliases is impressive to say the least (bigfoot, buckfunk3000, lenny logan, s.i. futures, zygmunt janowski...). but one of his oldest, and certainly one of his strangest, is cabbage boy. in fact i confess i am old enough to remember his releases in the early 90s on cassette tape under the umbrella of the >cabbage head collective< (which also included such techno notables as cristian vogel & tim wright) - and pretty mental they were too. the lost tapes vol. 1 doesnt disappoint on that front, containing such gems as a remix of 80s pop mysteries frank chickens>we are ninja<, and an electronic cover version of >king kong< by frank zappa (ask your parents...). totally out there, but totally cool at the same time...highly recommended to anyone looking for something with some real personality amidst the hard-drives full of faceless (and usually nameless) digital fluff

played by c-rock, d julz, gregor tresher, 2000 and one, minilogue and many more… like no other german producer, hannover-born martin buttrich has been decisively influencing the sound aesthetics of electronic dance music since the middle of the nineties. having been more in the background for most of the time while working for and with timo maas and loco dice among others, his benchmark releases for carl craigs label planet e or poker flat have also spotlighted his original name in the public. buttrichs second ep for cocoon couldnt prove better his prediction that in 2008, minimal techno will be containing more warm and melodic components. strangely familiar but always surprising, again and i lost my wallet provide us with bassprone reduction somewhere in between techno and house, and harmony bits that remind of caribbean calypso sounds provide the feeling of the approaching summer which makes both tracks perfect for the final of the open air season 2008. at least, buttrich will be an integral part of the season closing between ibiza main river and spree.
